If I could sum the entire couple of months in one word it would be ‘boredom’. Its a little over a month left to go before I complete this period of so called industrial training and I do not feel that I’ve learned enough to even fill 5 minutes of a presentation. Heck, things has been so slow I could practically complete an entire week’’s work in a day. I had to crap alot in my log book. So much so everyday has only a line of words to describe my activities for the day. A very short one in fact. Sometimes I do not even have anything to do for the entire day. Tempting as it is to honestly put “Today I went online and Facebook’ed.” into it I figure the university won’t be so much so appreciating of such an over honest student in their midst… or would they? Hmm…

But looking at the blogs and facebook pictures of my friends during this free times like Winston and Khai Ling makes me wonder what would happen if I was having my industrial training a.ka. internship overseas, at a university or even at a multinational company. Before I started my industrial training I used to wonder if I would have some relaxation time at work to go online to check my mail and stuff. I think I wished a little too hard.

Listening to X-Japan on my PSP while ranting about this right now isn’t my version of a good job I tell ya. No matter what, I still wish to learn of new things. On how the SCADA system is implemented, the various ways that it could be done and the alternatives that could be made as a few example of what I believe should be taught. The only skill I ever dare to admit that I’ve picked up on the job is Microsoft’s Paint. I’m so bloody good in it I’m sad. This is so NOT what I signed up for.

Thinking about it, I should have just went down to New Zealand to work with my uncle. At least I might get to go for tactical weapons combat and self defense training from special forces personnel. Sigh. I’ve been learning and doing more outside the work place than in it. My weekends are usually full and my week nights is most commonly filled with meetings and appointments. The occasional yumcha session included.

The lecturer will be coming for a visit and I’m suppose to show them my log book and do a short presentation on my progress. But…what progress? I do hope they do not mean Facebook progress. Posted too late. Lecturer already came to visit. I was somewhat unprepared but it went smoothly. More or less.

I wanna learn more and go to the site for at least once so I could write a tad more in my report not to mention take more pics.

23 more days to go.

Sigh…I’m feeling depressed all over again.

A peon? Not quite true!" width="171" height="177" />
Me? A peon? Not quite true!

After 3 weeks of work I’m finally getting used to it. Although there is the matter of sleep debt and a whole lack of it I still have to say it beats having to study for exams. For the past couple of weeks I’ve tend to realized a couple of things while working. For starters, I’m apparently addicted to the internet in a sense that if you take it away from me at the office I’ll go crazy after a while killing everyone in the office then curling up into a fetal position at the corner of the room and then die slowly withering like a flower without water. Okay, no not really but still it becomes unbearable when you have nothing to do between assignments workloads.

Eating alone is so much fun! No, not really. Since I’m the ONLY intern here its kinda expected. I could eat with my fellow co-workers but seeing how I’m always on a shoestring budget(or until the end of this month) I do not see a point in doing so. On a side note, having cold pre-packed chicken rice from Carrefour for 3 days straight does not make it taste any better nor addictive at all. Well, at least it gets the job done by filling up my stomach. Kinda. How I wish there’s a nasi campur stall nearby at a time like this.

Just like how most people like to read the newspaper in the morning I have the tendency to check out bbcnews.com for the latest news reports…in the office. Unfortunately, I try not to access a certain Sankaku Complex due to its *ehem* non-work safe news. Other than the occasional workload that I usually complete in no time at all (freaks surprises my supervisors out every time), I’m pretty much quite free in the office. Heck, I even got some DaiCon work done as well.

Going to work in the morning takes me 30ish minutes to get from my house to the office door but it takes twice that time to go home. I hate rush hour traffic.

Overall, I’m still learning new stuff everyday but I still miss the ol’classrooms and the same consistent food around campus. Pffft…hell no.

I was so looking forward to actually learning someting new without the hassles of exams and such during this Industrial Training period. Willowglen the company I’m working for specialises in SCADA is located about 30-45mins away from home depending for the traffic. Arrived an hour early for work on Monday. Totally forgotten about the school holidays and thus the lack of traffic. Given a key card which also acts as my attendence monitoring system(thank god MMU does not have this or should I say phailed to implement this). That passion of mine went into hibernation mode 20mins on the first day on the job. Literally, as you will later see.

I was assigned to the Project Software dept. Apparently what they do is that they act as middle men between customers and the R&D department and is tasked to solved software problems. I was given a ‘Introduction to SCADA’ textbook and a beginner’s manual on their software setup and was tasked with reading up on it. I had no computer on my desk with or without any interweb. I slept while reading. Agonising. Thank god I had a computer with an internet connection on day 2. It was a blessing. Luckily my supervisor noticed my boredom and hooked me up with a connection. She’s awesome for that I tell you and she now sits behind me at work. Heh. So far she hasn’t said anything about my excessive net usage yet but then again as long as I’m given something to then then I won’t be lingering my life online anyways.

There’s another Trainee here as well but she’s leaving by this week leaving me the only fresh meat Trainee around these here parts. Week one has been unsurprisingly boring in the office. Outside the office however, it has been a heartwrenching down hill hell hole for me. But of course seeing how shit always happens to me and that I’m never lucky enough to experience what society normally does I guess I should be considering it as a norm by now. Heh.

Starting from next week I’ll be starting my internship. The university calls it Industrial Training a fancy name with the same meaning I guess. Honestly, I can’t wait to begin working in a new enviroment. No exams, no classesm no labs and no tutorials for the next 4 months.

I won’t really call this a honeymoon break but I do hope it becomes that way in a sense. I need a rest. I have stuff carried forward in my head that would make a can of Surströmming to shame. Hopefully, I’ll have more time on my hands to so what I want but its gonna looks like a long shot. I’m also gonna be working during the weekends for Lolitech Logitech again till the end of June.

Working 7 days a week non-stop. Heh. I sometimes wonder why do I punish myself like this. I just hope I’ll keep sane till the end of the month and not go into a murderous rampage of mass self destruction.

I have always liked working at PC Fair. The crowd is always huge and its interesting to observe and meet new people. Especially if they are customers that I have to serve. This part usually reminds me to be humble as I am now serving somebody instead of the other way around. That does not sound right but anyways other than for my personal and financial gain I usually get along fine with the people I’m working with. That is…until today.

Microsoft is fine. The IN2 marketing people and the part timers are fine as usual although it’s a totally new batch of people I’ve not work with before other than my friend Joe. But the Thundermatch distributors and their part timers are FUCKING USELESS BARBARIC INGRATS. Well some of them anyways. Especially their guy in charge. Brainless moron.

RAGE!!!!!!

I’ve always showed my fellow colleagues respect in the workplace and I have always received the same as I was working for Lolitech Logitech previously. This time they did NOT respect any of the IN2 part-timers that was FUCKING HIRED by Microsoft themselves. Me included. WHAT…THE…FUCK???!!!

I know they have a commission with every product they sell but so do we. Can’t we get along? Must they come up to my customer’s face as I am serving them and giving my all while they try to intervene and steal MY customer in front of my face? And when I complained to their ‘leader’ he say

“Oh, that means that they are aggressive and we hired the right people. You should be aggressive too!”

Aggressive? Me? You don’t wanna see me aggressive. I do scary stuff when I’m aggressive. I was being nice so that the customers did not RUN AWAY!!!!! If I were aggressive I’ll call them to FUCK off in which what I will be doing tomorrow if it happens again.

You set a target and I’ll try my best to hit the target. I hate working for people but when I do I give it my absolute 150%. Now THAT is called professionalism. That is something that was filled with when I was with Logitech. IT WAS FUN. That made working at PC Fair so much less tiring and painful. With the teamwork we had every target was a challenge and over exceeding the target was joy for all of us.

Too bad some people are so caught up in their caveman mentality that they forget what is it to have fun working just for a few extra bucks and I really mean a few extra bucks. I hope these morons are happy cause at the end of the day I’m still gonna earn more than them anyways. Bastards.

I’m so regretting this now.

Well, it’s not really blue nowadays with the random rain and all but hey this article has nothing got to do with the sky nor blue anyways. Ok, so I’ve changed the site colour to blue. Thats about it. Pretty tired to do anything anyways. Being stuck in campus for most of the day either doing assignments or having lab experiments or studying for exams or having radish realated meetings really isn’t too good for my health I believe.

Sigh…and here I thought I can use the coming weekend to relax a little and take some time to do my assignments but NO!!! I have to work at PC Fair standing for over 10+hours for 3 days serving customers the best choice to suit their needs. Damn my greed for the greens.

I now leave you with a cute picture of what I’m like right about now represented by a XBOX360-tan.

And oh, I’m working for Microsoft this weekend.

Finally after quite a hiatus due to work and by work I mean assignments, projects and classes I’m back. But now since classes are over and everything else is almost done there’s finally time for me to scribble something in this ol’blog of mine.

In university, teamwork is a very important aspect in achieving ones goal or objective. Task such as group work or group based assignments are one of the fundamental teachings of university life. That is to say it was their intention but now for a lot of students its more of a curse than a blessing. In a team based assignment or project everyone is given a specific task to do and with it there will be less work and more time to do other stuff. It makes plenty of sense and in the real world teamwork is the basis of any organization. But what if some of you teammates are practically useless? Then all I can say is that you’re pretty much fucked.

You’re much so when your teamates has no initiative at all and always uses excuses upon excuses to delay the job making your life and other miserable in the end. And when you can’t wait any longer you do the work yourself and he/she begs you to put their name on the report as well.

I think many of us has experience this kinds of incidences one way or another and although its easy to say that we can just cancel the lazy names out but sometimes it does not work that way. Why? Cause the lecturer will say that its a ‘project’ and if your group member or partner isn’t doing much it only means that you have bad management and leadership skills and you won’t get a good mark for a lack of teamwork.

I hate that when it happens…don’t you?
